Eat & Drink

The quaint and walkable downtown of Fredericksburg is perfect for a leisurely day of sampling local shopping, dining, and drinks. Restaurants range from very casual to fine dining. The downtown area is also home to several breweries — we recommend Red Dragon Brewery, just blocks away from our wedding venue!

History

Fredericksburg is known as the childhood home of President George Washington and played an important part in the American Civil War. Stop by the Fredericksburg Visitor Center to get an overview of the city and information on self-guided and expert-led tours of the downtown. There are also several trolley tour companies in town.

Explore

The city operates several parks, including an over 200 acre recreation area on both sides of the Rappahannock River. The National Park Service maintains four Civil War battlefields (Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness and Spotsylvania Court House) — each one has a driving tour, historic buildings and numerous walking trails.
